In yesterday's lesson some of the groups who had their presentation ready showed the rest of the class what they had researched. Every presentation had included one of the aspects of WW1.
Leanne and Ellie-communication:
They told us how radio's were used to contact RAF planes but also for entertainment at home, information was given over the radio to people at home keeping them updated on the current situation of the war. Carrier pigeons were used a lot during WW1, they were the easiest and most convenient way to get messages around because they were very fast so if there was an open fire trying to shoot down the pigeons it would be very difficult.
Sante, Brett, Deja and Alice- farming
This group told us how farming was extremely important during WW1 because there was a huge demand for food. Whilst all the men were away fighting the women took over jobs such as agriculture. these were known as land girls and they're better known for their contribution in WW2 but the land girls did form towards the end of WW1. They would have two uniforms, their service uniform and their working uniform that they would wear during hard labour jobs.
Isabella,Ellis,Kevaughn and Tiarn- how soldiers were killed, machinery and ammunition
They told us that the main four causes of death during WW1 were guns, artillery, gas and malnutrition. most of these happened in the trenches were the conditions were so bad. We also learned the difference between artillery and heavy artillery, heavy artillery needs two people to man it e.g field guns which were pulled by horses and sniper rifle's. malnutrition was a big issue in the trenches for al of the soldiers, the conditions they were living in were terrible, and many soldiers got trench foot and gangrene, because there was not much help in the way of medical treatment in the trenches many of them died form these infections and diseases.

Link to useful website
http://fashionduringworldwar1.weebly.com/women.html
I think this website is very useful because it gives you basic information on how fashion dramatically changed as soon as ww1 started. Clothes became less for show and more for practicality as women had to do hard labour jobs since most of the men were at war.
